The cemetery was incorporated by Act of Parliament in 1836. This original card is postmarked 1907 and shows the view north-east from St Luke's Church. Sadly, most of the monuments shown have been demolished (squares 122/4/5), although the (Grade II listed) Byzantine-style mausoleum of Alfred (d. 1893) and Elizabeth (d. 1892) LONGSDON (square 119) still survives. Longsdon was the London agent of Krupps.
