Veteran Cycling Club history No. 7

Price: £5.00

by John Watts

The principal aim of this history is to show how, where and when cycle racing has taken place at Crystal Palace. It will also examine the effect that the great changes in social and economic conditions have had on the sport over the past 160 years. In particular how the Crystal Palace as an entity influenced affairs there, and indeed, its spirit continues today.

Over such a long period the number of events and races that have taken place there is prodigious, as is the countless thousands of cyclists who have endeavoured to cross the line first. No attempt has been made therefore to record all these events and riders although a few are introduced either because of historical importance or to illustrate a particular period or circumstances.

52 pages. Paperback. 42 illustrations and site plans.
