London's Fire Stations 1833-2000

Price: £20.00

by John B. Nadal

London’s Fire Stations is a comprehensive historical guide to the London Fire Brigade’s buildings from 1833 to 2005. The book contains a wealth of detail, including a chronological collection of fascinating photographs of over 220 past fire stations, some still recognisable today.

Richly illustrated with over 200 colour and monochrome images, with information dating back to the formation of the London Fire Engine Establishment in 1833, it is at once a fascinating historical guide to the London Fire Brigade and a significant commentary on the design and architecture of municipal buildings.

This book has been out of print for many years and has now been reprinted. Original copies (exactly the same as this reprint) are selling on the internet for £65+.

The image on the cover shows the Sydenham Fire Station that was located at the northern end of Crystal Palace Parade.
