Produced by The Crystal Palace Campaign in 1998 as part of the opposition to the 18-20 screen multiplex cinema proposal

The memorial, which was paid for by public subscription, consists of a colossal Carrara marble bust 8ft high and 4ft 6 inches at the base. It was originally positioned on the Top Terrace near the main steps and was unveiled by Lady Frederick Cavendish on the 10th June 1873.

The bust is nationally listed Grade II.
